Monarchs are Outlasted by FDU-Florham on Wednesday Night

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 16, 2025) -- The King's College men's lacrosse team battled with the Devils of FDU-Florham through four quarters on Wednesday night. With a slow start in the first quarter, the Monarchs (1-12, 0-5 MAC Freedom) were defeated 9-8 in McCarthy Stadium.
 
The Devils (8-5, 1-3 MAC Freedom) started off with a goal in the first 0:45 of the half. For the next eight minutes the teams went back-and-forth with several shot opportunities. At 6:12, Grant Parshall netted an unassisted goal after a successful clear by the squad. FDU-Florham responded right back with two straight goals to end the first quarter ahead 3-1.
 
The Devils continued to push as they found the back of the net at 14:15 of the second quarter. The Monarch defense stayed strong for the next three minutes with multiple saves by Ryan Rickards and a clock violation. King's earned a perfect clear and Ryan Lynch found Jake Cierech down the stretch to tack on a goal at 11:27. The two opponents traded shots once more, but King's continued to stampede their visitors and went on a 2-0 run that included John Wall and Ryan Lynch. The Monarchs were down 5-4 heading into halftime.
 
After intermission, King's won the opening faceoff and entered enemy territory. FDU-Florham was able to withstand the Monarchs pursuit and regain possession. Ryan Dolphin caused a turnover that helped the team collect another goal thanks to Cierech with an assist by Wall. As time was dwindling, the Devils capitalized on a man-up opportunity to net the last goal of the third quarter. The Monarchs were right behind, 6-5.
 
FDU-Florham went on a 2-0 run to start the fourth quarter, but King's answered right back with two of their own thanks to Ryan Lynch. The minutes became scoreless, but at 5:20, the Devils netted a goal to earn a two-point cushion. The Monarchs continued to fight, and Chris O'Mara not only caused a turnover but went down in transition to net his first goal of the season. King's won the last faceoff of the game and created several shots on goal. FDU-Florham made a timely save to go back into King's territory, but the Monarch defense remained strong and forced a clock violation. Though the Devils were able to edge past King's and the Monarchs fell 9-8 at the final buzzer.
 
King's finished with 33 shots, 39 ground balls, and five caused turnovers. Ryan Lynch led the squad with three goals and an assist. Wall was right behind with two goals and six ground balls. Ryan Rickards collected 13 saves and eight ground balls.
 
FDU-Florham ended with 38 shots, 15-18 clears, 49 ground balls, and 11 caused turnovers. Brenden Fabin fueled the team with three goals. Jarrett Dugenio and Ronnie Trsuzzi followed with two goals each. Bud Snyder dished out three goals and had seven ground balls. Zachary Van Zile produced four caused turnovers with three ground balls. Anthony Pieroni had 11 saves and two ground balls between the posts.
 
The Monarchs are on the road to take on Arcadia at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16th.
