Monarchs are Downed on the Road by Arcadia

GLENSIDE, PA (April 23, 2025) -- The King's College men's lacrosse team battled against Arcadia University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest on Wednesday evening. The Monarchs fell to the Knights 17-6 in Jean Lenox West Field.
 
Arcadia (11-5) had two straight goals with 12:54 left of the first quarter. King's wasted no time and answered right back with Jake Cierech finding the back of the net at 11:42. The Monarchs would pester their hosts with several shot opportunities, but the Knights' defense stayed strong and were able to go on a 2-0 run. At the end of the first quarter, the Monarchs were down 4-1.
 
King's battled through the first five minutes of the second quarter, but Arcadia was able to sneek in a goal at 10:14. Though after a faceoff win by Chris O'Mara, the Monarchs answered right back as John Wall found the back of the net at 9:43. The Knights once again collected two straight tallies with 6:07 left of play in the first half. The two MAC Freedom opponents traded possessions, forcing the final minutes to be left scoreless. Heading into intermission, Arcadia was ahead 8-2.
 
To start the second half, King's caused a clock violation and watched Grant Parshall produce a goal at 12:30. The Knights were not going down easy and added four tallies to the scoreboard. The Monarchs got back into action after a caused turnover by Josh Hilpp and at 4:25, Cierech collected his second goal of the night. The two teams fought down the stretch once again as King's looked to gain momentum. Time was dwindling down when Ryan Lynch found the back of the net to collect the final goal of the quarter at 0:21 to make it 13-5.
 
The teams went back-and-forth in the final quarter. Billy Beggs earned his first goal of the season at 11:16 after a successful clear by the Monarchs. Arcadia maintained control with a 4-0 run, but King's poked at their hosts the rest of the way. At the final buzzer, the Monarchs lost 17-6.
 
King's had 32 shots, 35 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and four assist on six goals. Cierech led the team with two goals. Wall, Beggs, Ryan Lynch, and Parshall had one goal each. Brenden Lynch dished out two assists. Hilpp fueled the squad with six ground balls. Braydon Buckingham had two caused turnovers and three ground balls. In goal, Ryan Rickards secured six saves and nine ground balls. Miles Wilson was right behind with five saves and five ground balls between the posts.
 
The Knights' Nick Mormando and Anthony Mangini produced four goals each. Kyle McLaughlin passed out eight assists. AJ Dominguez picked up eight ground balls and went 11-14 in faceoffs. Colin Brockman followed with five ground balls and went 8-10 in faceoffs. Nathaniel Hudgins collected 13 saves and 12 ground balls in goal.
 
The Monarchs will be back in McGrane Gymnasium on Saturday, April 26th at 1 p.m. to close out their regular season against Delaware Valley. The team will celebrate their nine seniors ahead of the contest with their family, friends, and alumni in the stands.
