WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 22, 2025) – The King's College baseball team fell to the Nittany Lions of Penn State Schuylkill 8-6 in Tuesday's non-conference matchup at Lipo Field. With the loss, the Monarchs move to 10-24, 3-15 in conference play while the Nittany Lions improve to 23-15, 12-3 in the PSUAC. Senior pitcher/outfielder
Zach Day recorded his 200
th career hit late in the game.
Schuylkill struck first with two runs in the first inning. The Monarchs answered back in the second inning after
Owen Ness doubled down the third base line to bring two runners home and tie the game 2-2.
The Nittany Lions retook the lead with three runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the ninth to make it 8-2. The Monarchs didn't go down without a fight as
Owen Kosar hit a single to center field to put
Kevin Kullman on second, Day on third and
Jaiden Wanamaker scoring.
Zach Jenkins followed up with a single down the third base line to push Kosar to second, Kullman to third and Day home. Ness then reached first on an error by the shortstop, advancing the base runners once again and scoring Kullman.
Mikey Timinski reached base on a fielders choice to score Kosar before the inning was retired with a final score of 8-6 in favor of Penn State Schuylkill.
The starting pitchers each tabbed their team's pitching decisions as Schuylkill's Owen Shoop (6-2) got the win, handing King's
Connor Reynolds (4-2) the loss on the mound. Junior outfielder
Owen Kosar led the monarchs with two runs, three hits and one RBI on the afternoon.
The Monarchs are back at Lipo Field tomorrow to host the Mules of Muhlenherg College at 4 p.m.
