WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 23, 2025) – The King's College baseball team beat the Mules of Muhlenberg College 5-3 in Wednesday's non-conference matchup at Lipo Field. With the win, the Monarchs snap their seven-game losing streak to improve to 11-24, 3-15 in conference play while the Mules fall to 17-19, 6-9 in the Centennial Conference.
After a quiet first two innings,
Jaiden Wanamaker made some noise in the third with a double hit to left field to bring
Brayden Schoonmaker home and put the Monarchs on the board. Wanamaker stole third base and scored on the throw from the catcher to the third baseman. In the fourth,
Owen Kosar doubled to center field to bring
Kevin Kullman home, followed by a single to right center from
Joshua Quinones to score Kosar and extend the King's lead to 4-0 after four.
The Mules scored two runs in the fifth to make it a 4-2 ball game, but the Monarchs answered back in the sixth as
Jacob Sutton hit a single through the left side to score Kullman and make it 5-2. Muhlenberg tacked on another run in the eighth and attempted a ninth-inning rally but ended up leaving two on base as the inning was retired and King's secured the 5-3 win.
Kullman led the Monarchs with two runs and three hits and Wanamaker and Kosar each recorded one run, one hit and one RBI on the afternoon. Starting pitcher
Aydan Davis snagged the win on the mound (2-1) going four innings with one strikeout and handing Muhlenberg's Matt Oehrlein (1-3) the pitching loss. Sophomore pitcher
Tyler Mastropieri also notched three strikeouts through five innings as the reliever.
The Monarchs travel to take on the Bulldogs of DeSales University for a MAC Freedom contest on Friday, April 25 with the first pitch at 3:30 p.m. at Weiland Park.
