CENTER VALLEY, PA (April 25, 2025) --
Troy Neff hit a three-run home run late in the game, and
Zach Day went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the King's College baseball team in a 13-6 setback at DeSales University on Friday afternoon. With the loss in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contest, the Monarchs fall to 11-25 overall and 3-16 in the conference, while the Bulldogs improve to 18-18 with a 10-9 conference mark.

After a slow start, DeSales (18-18, 10-9 MAC Freedom) got on the board in the bottom of the third behind a lead off single then tacked on three more on four hits in the bottom of the fourth to hold an early 4-0 edge. King's (11-25, 3-16 MAC Freedom) responded in the top of the fifth, plating a pair as
Justin Stefanowicz singled to right and advanced to third on a one-out double from
Jaiden Wanamaker. Day singled through the left side to score the first, and
Owen Kosar drove in the second on a single up the middle as the Monarchs closed within 4-2.

The Bulldogs tacked on three more in the fifth and a single tally in both the sixth and seventh as their lead jumped to 9-2 before King's cut into the deficit. Kosar was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the eighth before
Zach Jenkins doubled to left center to put two on with no outs.
Jacob Sutton singled to left center and advanced to second on the throw as Kosar came around to score to set up the three-run home run to right field off the bat of Neff as the Monarchs made it a 9-6 game late.

The host DeSales shut the door on a comeback effort by the Monarchs, scoring four more in the bottom of the eighth. Day singled to lead off the top of the ninth, Kosar doubled with one out, and Jenkins was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but the Bulldogs defense delivered the final two outs to prevent the comeback as King's dropped game one of the MAC Freedom series, 13-6, on the road on Friday afternoon.

Day went 4-for-5 with an RBI, while Neff went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a run. Kosar, Jenkins, and Sutton each had multi-hit games, totaling two a piece, while Wanamaker and Stefanowicz added hits as well in the setback.
Connor Reynolds was awarded the loss as the starter, throwing 3.1 innings and giving up four earned runs on seven hits.

Travis Kerr paced DeSales as he went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs, and a home run, while Gavin Zavorski went3-for-4 with three runs. Michael Hooker collected the win as the starter, tossing 7.0 innings and allowing five earned runs on 11 hits.

The Monarchs are scheduled to host DeSales at Lipo Field tomorrow with game one beginning at 1:00 p.m., weather permitting.
