Monarchs Drop a Tough One at Home

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 23, 2025) -- The King's College women's lacrosse team hosted Arcadia University for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom matchup. The Monarchs battled it out but fell 18-11 to the Knights.
 
Arcadia (9-7, MAC Freedom 3-3) wasted no time in the opening quarter with back-to-back goals. The next three minutes was scoreless as both teams traded shots. At 10:40, King's (4-10, 0-6 MAC Freedom) took advantage of a player-up opportunity and saw Sydney Stratton gain a tally for the squad. Alli Lindsay went on right after to score a goal off a free position shot at 10:23. The two MAC Freedom opponents began exchanging goals down the stretch. The Monarchs had the last laugh with a 5-4 run that included Sarah Schultz, Emily Kane, Chloe Burke, and Mariah Schneider to end the first quarter ahead, 7-6.
 
King's continued their momentum with a draw control win by Schneider to start the second quarter. Arcadia stayed composed and found the back of the net at 12:59. The two teams once again went back-and-forth as both defenses prevailed and stayed strong. The squad continued to fight and Schneider secured herself a player up goal at 8:18. Though the Knights came right back and created a 4-0 burst to create a three-point cushion. Lindsay won the final draw control and had the last shot of the half for the Monarchs. Heading into halftime, King's was down 11-8.
 
Following intermission, Arcadia wasted no time and netted a goal at 14:48. The Monarch defense caused several turnovers the next four minutes and at 10:37 Lindsay found Schneider for yet another player-up goal. The Knights pestered their hosts and scored three straight tallies with 1:38 left of the third quarter. With seconds left on the clock, Lindsay found the back of the net to get King's to double-digits. Arcadia was ahead, 15-10.
 
The final quarter of the night was scoreless for the first five minutes of play. The Knight were able to go on a 3-0 run as time was dwindling down. The Monarchs gave one more push and found Lindsay adding a tally at 0:40 off a free position shot. At the final buzzer, King's lost 18-11.
 
The Monarchs collected 41 ground balls, 21 draw controls, 12 caused turnovers, and went 5-6 on free position shots. Schneider had a hat trick, an assist, three ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Lindsay had herself a hat trick with an assist, 13 draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Sarah Schultz produced two goals and four ground balls. Emma Besa had six ground balls and Burke gathered five. Alyssa Reeber collected 12 saves and nine ground balls in goal.
 
Arcadia's Mackenzie Clark fueled the squad with five goals, four ground balls, six caused turnovers, and four draw controls. Tessa O'Donnell and Morganne Dee was right behind with four goals each. Jaylee Killgore dished out five assists with three goals, eight ground balls, and two assists. Emily Griffith had two saves and four ground balls between the posts.
 
King's will finish out the season on the road on Saturday, April 26th at 1 p.m. against Delaware Valley.
