Women's Lacrosse Fall to #20 Stevens on Wednesday Afternoon

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 9, 2025) -- The King's College women's lacrosse team hosted #20 Stevens on Wednesday afternoon for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest. The Monarchs fell to the Ducks 20-3 in McCarthy Stadium.
 
Stevens (8-4, 3-0 MAC Freedom) had all the momentum the first 20:30 of the opening half with a 13-0 run. With eight minutes left of the second quarter, Maria Schneider won a draw control to push in transition. Sarah Schultz soon found Sydney Stratton to add a King's goal to the scoreboard at 7:36. From then on, the Ducks maintained control with two straight goals to enter halftime 15-1.
 
Stevens maintained control with three unanswered points in the third quarter. The fourth was unlike the rest as the teams went back-and-forth. The King's defense remained steady while forcing several turnovers and a clock violation. At 6:30, Sarah Schultz netted a goal thanks to an assist from Schneider. The Ducks answered right back at 3:44, but the Monarchs continued to fight and Schneider added a tally at 2:35 after winning a draw control. Though Stevens secured the final goal of the game as time was expiring. King's was defeated 20-3 at the final buzzer.
 
Schnieder paced the squad with four draw controls, three ground balls, a caused turnover, an assist, and a goal. Sarah Schultz had two points with a goal and an assist. Stratton also added a goal to the stat sheet. Alli Lindsay had a team-high of six draw controls. Ani Quindipan collected four saves and Alyssa Reeber had one between the posts.
 
Stevens' Emily Leiby posted six points on three goals and three assists. Emily Smart had five points on two goals and three assists. Stefanie Sellitto fueled the Ducks with eight draw controls, three ground balls, and two goals. Felicity Heilferty had three saves in goal.
 
The Monarchs will return to McCarthy Stadium for a MAC Freedom matchup against DeSales on Saturday, April 12th at 1 p.m.
