Field Hockey Suffers 4-1 Road Loss at Wilkes

EDWARDSVILLE, PA (September 10, 2025) – The King's College field hockey team traveled to Wilkes University on Wednesday evening for a non-conference matchup, where they fell by a score of 4-0 to the Colonels. With the loss, the Monarchs drop to 1-3 overall, while Wilkes improves to 3-1 on the season.

Wilkes opened the scoring early at the 12:02 mark of the first quarter as Shaelyn Donnelly finished off a pass from Lydia Keppel to make it 1-0. The Colonels extended their lead in the second quarter, with Keppel converting off a feed from Sage Morgan at 28:14 to give the hosts a 2-0 edge heading into halftime.

The pressure continued in the second half as Maddie Karp added a third goal six minutes into the third, then struck again at five minutes into the fourth off a setup from Emma Lautenbacher to close out the scoring.

King's generated attacking momentum late in the game but were unable to convert. King's tallied seven penalty corners in the final quarter and took six shots.

Davina Krappa paced the Monarchs with five shots and two on goal while Shaylee Heffron added three shots of her own with one on goal. Rowan Murray and Melanie Tlatenchi each recorded a shot as well. In goal, Emily Bollinger made five saves for King's.

Karp led Wilkes with two goals, while Keppel posted a goal and an assist. Chloe Gilroy earned the shutout with four saves in the cage.

King's field hockey is set to play again on Saturday, September 13, as they head to Middletown, PA for a matchup with Penn St. Harrisburg at 12:00 PM.
