MIDDLETOWN, PA (September 13,2025)—The King's College field hockey team dropped a non-conference matchup with Penn St. Harrisburg by a score of 6-0 on Saturday afternoon. The result puts the monarchs at 1-4 for the year while the Lions improve to 4-1 in 2025.
The Lions struck first just 2:22 into the opening quarter, capitalizing on a penalty corner with a shot from the top left of the crease that found the bottom left corner of the cage to go up 1-0.
Harrisburg put up another pair of goals in the second quarter to hold a 3-0 lead heading into the halftime break. The Monarchs weren't able to pressure the Lions in the first half as they were held shotless through the first 30 minutes.
The Lions tacked on another goal in the third at 41:09 to bring their lead to four.
The Monarchs put up a strong fight in the fourth, taking their first two penalty corners of the game along with their lone shot coming from
Hannah Chocallo. Her backhanded shot sailed just wide left of the cage.
In the fourth, Harrisburg closed out the scoring with their fifth and sixth goals of the game.
Sadie Cook and Ami Mattingly led the game with two goals each while Astrid Comp added a goal and two assists and Faith Musser scoring and assisting for the Lions.
Chocallo took the lone shot of the afternoon for King's while
Elizabeth Samuel recorded four saves in her first career start in the cage. Newcomers
Mia Manganello-Czapla and
Sophia Pettinelli also made their collegiate debut for the Monarchs.
King's field hockey returns to action on Tuesday, September 16 as they head to the University of Scranton for a matchup with the Royals at 7:00 PM.
