EDWARDSVILLE, PA (September 10, 2025) – In a tightly contested matchup, the King's College women's soccer played Wilkes University to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night. The result puts the Colonels at 2-1-1 for the year while the Monarchs now sit at 1-3-1 overall.
The opening 25 minutes featured a flurry of activity, as the teams combined for six shots on goal.
Jenna Waldbillig,
Jessica Juarez, and
Victoria Hanna took the three shots on goal for King's in the first half, both going bottom center and were saved by the Wilkes keeper.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Courtney Monard saw three shots come here way in the first half and denied the Colonels on all three chances to score. Both teams took four shots each in the first while Wilkes held the edge in corner kicks 3-2.
The second half saw more physicality than the first with each team recording six fouls and picking up a yellow in the final 45 minutes.
Taryn Conover was given a yellow card in the 55
th minute while Wilkes' Elena Krajain got hers in the 75
th.
The Monarchs found three opportunities in the second half in a 10-minute span from the 69
th to the 79
th. Juarez,
Isabella Pacia and
Mackenzie Huffer each sent low running shots but could not capitalize as Wilkes' Ava Long was there to make the saves.
King's defense hunkered down in the second half as they faced five corners from the Colonels and only allowed one shot on goal, which Monard hauled in to preserve the draw.
Juarez led King's in shots for the game with two and both on goal. Waldbillig, Huffer, Hanna, Pacia and
Maya Parker each took a shot for the Monarchs on Wednesday Night. Monard earned her second shutout of the season, recording four saves on the evening.
King's women's soccer is set to play on Saturday, September 13 as they head to SUNY New Paltz for a matchup with the Hawks at 11:00 AM.
