Field Hockey Celebrates Senior Night Against Neumann

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 19, 2025)— On Friday evening, the King's College field hockey team honored its six graduating players — Reagan Joiner, Hannah Chocallo, Katey Shoemaker, Rowan Murray, Emily Bollinger, and Elizabeth Samuel — ahead of a non-conference matchup with Neumann University. The Monarchs fell to Neumann by a score of 3-1, dropping to 1-6 overall while the Knights improve to 4-3 on the season.

The Monarchs wasted no time, opening the scoring just 3:26 into the game. A penalty corner sent in by Melanie Tlatenchi to Hannah Chocallo was sent blazing into the back of the cage to give King's an early 1-0 lead.

Towards the end of the first, the Knights began to pressure the Monarch defense with two shots and two corners before finding the equalizer at 14:36 to send the game into the second quarter tied at one.

Neumann took the lead seven minutes into the second quarter on a deflected pass that wound up right in front of the cage for a Knights player to seize the 2-1 edge.

Just before the half, Allie Chocallo made a terrific play on a ball that slipped through a sea of players and was headed for the back of the cage, picking up a defensive save and keeping the Monarchs within striking distance going into halftime.

The third quarter saw the Monarchs with their best chance to tie the game at two, taking a penalty corner and two shots. The first was taken by Megan Harry and the second by Joiner which were both blocked by the Neumann defense.

As the Knights pressed for the insurance goal, the Monarch defense held strong, blocking both shots taken in the quarter by Neumann.

At 55:16, the Knights earned a penalty corner and capitalized, sending a shot past an extended Samuel to extend their lead to 3–1. The Monarchs looked for chances to chip away at the deficit but were unable to generate a shot in the fourth quarter, as Neumann held on for the 3–1 victory.

H. Chocallo led the Monarchs on the evening with her first goal of the season and the seventh of her career while Tlatenchi dished out her second assist of the season. Samuel finished the night with two saves with A. Chocallo recording her first defensive save of the season and the seventh of her career.

King's field hockey returns to the field on Wednesday, September 24, as they head to Selinsgrove, PA for a matchup with Susquehanna University starting at 4:30 PM.
