SCRANTON, PA (September 27, 2025) – The King's College field hockey team fell 3-0 on the road against Marywood University on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs dropped to 1-8 on the year, while Marywood improved to 5-4 with the win.
Marywood opened the scoring in the first quarter at 8:07, when Brooke Barwick scored off an assist from Dariane Jones. The Pacers extended their lead in the second quarter as Lany Straub netted a goal, assisted by Emma Toth, heading into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
Early in the third quarter, Dariane Jones scored off a pass from Barwick, giving Marywood a 3-0 lead.
Despite late pressure from King's, including several penalty corners and shots in the final quarter, the Monarchs were unable to get on the scoreboard.
King's was led offensively by
Melanie Tlatenchi, while
Shaylee Heffron and
Hannah Chocallo each recorded a shot on goal. Goalkeeper
Elizabeth Samuel made six saves in 60 minutes, keeping King's in the game despite the final score.
Marywood was paced by Barwick, Jones, and Straub, who combined for all three goals and multiple assists. Goalie Sabrina Frazer earned the shutout with two saves in goal.
King's field hockey returns to the field on Wednesday, October 1, when they host Lycoming College at McCarthy Stadium at 7:00 PM.
