Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lingenfelter Earns First Win as Women's Soccer Head Coach

ELMIRA, NY (September 3, 2025) – First-year head coach Jessica Lingenfelter and the King's College women's soccer team won their first game of the 2025 season on Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory over Elmira College. With the win, the Monarchs move to 1-2 while the Soaring Eagles fall to 0-2

In the 74th minute, Isabella Pacia dribbled through multiple defenders, continuing to move downfield before finding Jenna Waldbillig to send a shot from the left side of the box into the bottom right corner of the net past the diving keeper. The game-winning goal is the second on the season for Waldbillig and the first collegiate assist for Pacia.

While this game went into the halftime break scoreless, it was certainly not due to a lack of shots from the Monarchs. King's tallied 10 shots in the opening half, with four of them being on goal to Elmira's one. The best opportunity of the half for King's came at the 32:16 mark on a low running shot from the left corner of the box by Amelia Sarni that the Elmira goalkeeper was able to haul in.

Elmira only had one shot during the first period but nearly scored on a breakaway. Sophomore keeper Courtney Monard made a terrific save on the low running shot with her right foot to deny the Eagles their lone opportunity.

In the second half, the Soaring Eagles began to apply pressure offensively, taking seven shots with two on goal. They also were the only team in the second frame to take a corner kick with five chances. Monard and the Monarch defense held strong, saving the two shots on goal and finding ways to get back on the other half of the field.

The best chance for Elmira to find the equalizer came in the 77th minute on a shot from outside the box that had the top left corner written all over it. Monard made yet another fantastic save, leaping up to punch the ball over the net and force a corner.

Waldbillig paced King's with seven shots on the evening and the game-winning goal with Mackenzie Huffer taking a pair of shots as well. Monard finished the night with three saves, earning her first shutout of the season and her career.

King's women's soccer returns to the field on Saturday, September 6 for their home opener at McCarthy Stadium against the Pride of Widener University with first touch set for 3:30 PM.
