HOBOKEN, NJ (January 14, 2026) – The King's College men's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday evening, dropping an 87–67 MAC Freedom matchup to Stevens Institute of Technology at Canavan Arena. The Monarchs move to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Ducks improve to 7-7 on the season and 1-2 in the MAC Freedom.
After a 10-5 lead just six minutes into the game, Stevens put together a 13-6 run, building a double-digit advantage midway through the first half. King's found offense through
Ray Gooley and
Devin Kimmick from both deep and inside, but the Ducks continued to control the tempo behind efficient shooting, taking a 42-29 lead into halftime.
Gooley led the Monarchs in the first half with seven points while Kimmick and
Jaden Hall added five apiece.
The Monarchs showed life early in the second half, trading baskets through the opening stretch as Stevens maintained its cushion. Gooley knocked down three and
Ben Malley added a finish inside, but the Ducks responded with consistent perimeter shooting and transition offense to push the margin back to 16 at 13:56.
A Kimmick three followed by a
Sean Forrest turnaround jumper cut the Stevens lead to 11 with 7:20 remaining. The Ducks answered back with a 10-4 run over the next four minutes, pushing the lead back to 19 with 3:24 remaining.
Despite the deficit, King's continued to compete, getting bench contributions from
Jaden Hall and
Cole Walker on the glass and around the basket. However, the Ducks' efficiency proved decisive as they closed out the game with an 87–67 victory.
Stevens shot 50.7% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range, while holding the Monarchs to 39.7% shooting overall. The Ducks also held advantages in points in the paint (40–22), fastbreak points (20–2), and second-chance points (15–8).
Gooley led King's with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including two triples. Kimmick added 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Malley finished with nine points and four assists. Hall chipped in eight points and three rebounds while Walker contributed six points and four boards off the bench.
The Monarchs look to bounce back on Saturday, January 17
th as they head to Doylestown, PA to take on Delaware Valley for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
