PITTSTON, PA (January 23, 2026) -- The King's College men's ice hockey team returned home to the Revolution Ice Centre on Friday night, falling to Arcadia 4-1 in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) showdown. The Monarchs drop to 2-14-1 on the season and 2-10-1 in the MAC, while the Knights improve to 7-8-2 overall and 4-7-2 in conference contests.
Â
King's established early momentum in the opening minutes, starting with looks from
Jayden Baldinelli and
Zane Burleigh as King's attempted to build pressure in the offensive zone. The Knights began to flip the ice, firing off quick shots in transition. Monarch goaltender
Diego D'Alessandro extinguished a pair of high-danger scoring opportunities around the 4:39 mark with back-to-back timely saves.
Â
Arcadia broke through with an even-strength goal at the 6:00 mark of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. King's responded with continued pressure, highlighted by a power play beginning at 6:20 that produced a pair of attempts from
Steven Armstrong and extended zone time as the Monarchs searched for the equalizer. Despite the push, the Knights doubled the lead with another even-strength goal at 13:25.
Â
King's continued to battle through the remainder of the period, closing the frame with a strong defensive stretch that featured consecutive blocked shots by Burleigh and
Mikey Harrel Jr. while D'Alessandro made several steady saves to keep the deficit at two heading into the intermission.
Â
The second period opened with increased pressure from Arcadia, who contained play to the King's end of the ice for the majority of the first 10 minutes of action. D'Alessandro stood tall during that stretch, including a sequence that saw him turn aside multiple point-blank shots and watch one attempt ring off the post at 4:11. King's killed off a Knights power play midway through the period, blocking shots in quick succession as Harrel Jr. and Burleigh stepped into lanes and cleared rebounds.
Â
Late in the frame, Arcadia capitalized on a power play at 18:41 to extend the margin to 3-0. King's answered with urgency in the closing minutes of the period as Spurrell and Baldinelli each generated looks, while the Monarchs added two more blocks in the final seconds to limit further damage before the break.
Â
The third period began with King's killing off another penalty, as a key block from
Denys Arkhypenko set the tone for a determined final twenty minutes. The Monarchs generated sustained pressure midway through the frame with consecutive chances from
Teodor Benno Vaage, Parshall, and Burleigh, forcing multiple saves as the ice tilted toward the Knights' end. Arcadia added an even-strength goal at 10:39, but King's continued to battle for a breakthrough shift by shift.
Â
That persistence paid off late in the final frame when
Thomas Soucy entered the offensive zone and slipped the puck between the skates of a defender. Soucy fired off a wrist shot from the near-side faceoff dot that was saved, but produced a loose rebound in the crease.
Braydon Buckingham - who was crashing the net - quickly buried the puck into the back of the net to make it 4-1. Soucy picked up a helper of Buckingham's third of the season at 18:10.
Â
King's was able to generate more scoring chances from Spurrell,
Kevin Martin and
Gianmarco Caringi, however the Arcadia netminder was able to deny each attempt as the Knights held on for a 4-1 win.
Â
Buckingham led King's with the lone goal, while Soucy added an assist on the play and paced the offense with four shots along with Baldinelli. Martin won a team-high 10 draws in the faceoff dot, followed by
Cristo Walker's eight wins.
Â
Defensively, the Monarchs blocked 23 shots on the night, with Harrel Jr. leading the way with six while Burleigh and Baldinelli combined for seven more as King's repeatedly sacrificed the body to slow the Knights' attack. In goal, D'Alessandro turned aside 29 shots, including several extended stretches of consecutive saves during penalty kills and sustained pressure.
Â
King's returns to action tomorrow afternoon with a rematch against Arcadia. Puck drop from the Revolution Ice Centre is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
