Men's Lacrosse Drops Home Opener vs Susquehanna

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (February 28, 2026) — The King's College men's lacrosse team dropped its home opener Saturday afternoon, falling 15–6 to Susquehanna University at McCarthy Stadium.

The River Hawks struck early, scoring three times in the opening quarter to take a 3–0 lead despite King's generating nine shots in the frame. Susquehanna extended the margin in the second quarter, but the Monarchs responded with their best offensive stretch of the day.

King's scored four times in the second period, highlighted by back-to-back goals from Brenden Lynch and Braydon Buckingham in a seven-second span to quickly cut the deficit to 3–2. Lynch later added a man-up goal, and Connor Walsh found the net with a behind the back beauty late in the quarter to keep the Monarchs within striking distance at halftime, trailing 6–4.

The River Hawks pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring King's 5–2 to build an 11–6 advantage heading into the final period. Logan Gallagher accounted for both Monarch goals in the frame, including a man-up strike that trimmed the margin to two before Susquehanna answered with a late surge.

Susquehanna controlled the fourth quarter, adding four goals while holding King's scoreless to secure the 15–6 final.

Lynch and Gallagher paced the Monarch offense with two goals each, while Walsh and Buckingham added one apiece. In goal, Ryan Rickards made nine saves over 60 minutes of action.

Susquehanna held advantages in ground balls (38–19) and faceoffs (21–4), which helped the River Hawks control possession throughout the afternoon.

King's will look to bounce back in its next outing as the Monarchs take on Alvernia on the road, Wednesday March 4 at 4:00 p.m..
