Women's Lacrosse Overcomes Four Goal Deficit in Win vs Elmira

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (February 28, 2026) — King's women's lacrosse erased an early deficit and stormed back for a 9-6 comeback victory over Elmira on Friday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.

Elmira struck first and built momentum in the opening half, taking a 1-0 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 5-2 by halftime. The Soaring Eagles pushed the margin to 6-2 early in the third, putting the Monarchs in a four-goal hole.

From there, King's flipped the script with a dominant second-half surge. The Monarchs scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to pull even at 6-6, sparked by back-to-back tallies from Sarah Schultz. Brooke Harmonosky added a free-position finish, and Chelsea Lee tied the game late in the frame to complete the comeback push.

King's carried the momentum into the fourth quarter, where the defense locked in and the offense delivered the decisive run. Harmonosky gave the Monarchs their first lead of the afternoon with a man-up goal, and Sydney Stratton extended the cushion with just over four minutes remaining. Emily Kane capped the scoring with a late insurance marker to seal the 9-6 win.

Sarah SchultzEmilee Schultz, and Brook Harmonosky each scored twice to lead the Monarch attack. Stratton, Lee, and Kane added one goal apiece in the balanced offensive effort. Lee, Thurston, Kane, Sarah Schultz, and Emilee Schultz each recorded an assist.

Defender Gianna Chiarizio stepped up big time to hop in net and earned the win with six saves as the Monarch defense held Elmira scoreless over the final 21 minutes of play.

King's finished with a 28-18 advantage in shots and forced 20 Elmira turnovers in the victory.

The Monarchs will look to build on the win in their return to action on Wednesday March 4 at 7:00 p.m. when they take on Marywood on the road.
