Women's Basketball Falls at Stevens in MAC Freedom Road Matchup

HOBOKEN, NJ (February 4, 2026) — The King's College women's basketball team dropped a 73–58 decision to Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday night in a MAC Freedom contest at Canavan Arena. The Monarchs were outscored in all four quarters, but continued to compete throughout and showed late fight in the final period.

Stevens controlled the tempo early, building a 20–11 lead after the opening quarter behind strong defensive pressure and transition scoring. The Ducks continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, holding King's to 16 points and extending their advantage to 38–27 heading into halftime.

The Monarchs looked to respond coming out of the break, but Stevens maintained momentum in the third quarter, outscoring King's 15–12 to push the lead to 53–39. Stevens capitalized on turnovers and second-chance opportunities during the frame, keeping the margin in double digits.

King's showed resilience in the fourth quarter, putting together its strongest stretch of the night by scoring 19 points. The Monarchs cut into the deficit midway through the period following baskets from Claire Aufiero and a three-pointer from Cadie Lewis, trimming the lead to 13 with under seven minutes remaining. Despite the push, Stevens responded with timely scoring and closed the game with a late run to secure the 73–58 victory.

Gianna Dickson and Claire Aufiero led King's with 13 points apiece. Aufiero also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, while Lauren Casey finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Cadie Lewis added five points, seven assists, and six rebounds, and Layla Orth chipped in five points off the bench.

As a team, King's shot 36.8 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from three-point range, while Stevens finished at 44.3 percent shooting. Turnovers proved costly for the Monarchs, as Stevens scored 21 points off 20 King's turnovers. The Ducks also held a 43–37 rebounding advantage, helping control possession throughout the contest.

Despite the loss, King's showed continued effort through all four quarters and will look to regroup as MAC Freedom play continues on Saturday, February 7, when the Monarchs (9-11, 2-7 MAC Freedom) head to Annville, PA to take on Lebanon Valley at 4:00 PM.
