WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 11, 2026) -- King's fell on the road Wednesday evening, dropping a 21-9 decision to Wilkes in non-conference men's lacrosse.
Wilkes jumped out to an early lead in the opening quarter, scoring five times to take a 5-1 advantage after the first 15 minutes. Ryan Lynch accounted for King's first goal of the game as the Monarchs looked to keep pace with the Colonels' early offensive push.
The hosts continued to control momentum in the second quarter, adding four more goals while limiting King's to just one. Logan Gallagher found the back of the net for the Monarchs during the frame, but Wilkes carried a 9-2 lead into halftime.
King's showed signs of life in the third quarter with a three-goal stretch. Lynch added another tally during the period while Connor Walsh and Miles Wilson each scored to help the Monarchs generate some offensive momentum. Despite the surge, Wilkes continued to answer on the other end and extended its lead to 17-5 heading into the final quarter.
The Monarchs produced their strongest offensive quarter in the fourth, scoring four times. Lynch completed his four-goal performance, while Brenden Lynch also tallied a goal as King's continued to battle until the final whistle.
Ryan Lynch led the Monarchs with four goals on six shots, while Gallagher added two goals. Walsh finished with a goal and an assist, and Brenden Lynch posted a goal and an assist as well. Wilson also contributed a goal for King's.
Defensively, the Monarchs recorded 38 ground balls as a team, with Josh Hilpp leading the way with six. Caleb Sopkie went 15-for-32 at the faceoff dot and collected four ground balls. King's goalkeepers combined for 14 saves while facing 35 shots on goal.
Wilkes was paced by Anthony DiFrancesco with seven goals, while Tim Hartka added four scores in the win.
King's finished the game with 38 shots and matched Wilkes with 38 ground balls, but the Colonels' early scoring runs proved to be the difference in the contest.
The Monarchs are back in action on Wednesday March 18 at 7:00 p.m. when Neumann comes to McCarthy.
