WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 18, 2026) — The King's College women's lacrosse team fell at home Wednesday evening, dropping a 17-7 decision to Gwynedd Mercy University at McCarthy Stadium.
Gwynedd Mercy took control early, building a 5-2 lead in the opening quarter behind a strong offensive push. King's found the scoreboard late in the frame, but the Griffins continued to apply pressure and extended their advantage in the second quarter, outscoring the Monarchs to take an 11-6 lead into halftime.
King's showed improved play coming out of the break, putting together one of its strongest stretches of the game in the third quarter. The Monarchs found rhythm offensively and were able to generate multiple scoring opportunities, cutting into the deficit with a small run to keep the game competitive heading into the final period.
The Monarchs continued to battle in the fourth quarter, adding to their scoring total and showing resilience despite the margin. Gwynedd Mercy, however, answered with timely goals down the stretch to secure the 17-7 victory.
Sydney Stratton and Brooke Harmonosky led the Monarchs offensively with two goals each, while Chelsea Lee and Emilee Schultz contributed a goal apiece. Assists came by way of Harmonosky with two, Stratton, and Sarah Schultz.
A bright spot for King's came from Aubrey Thurston, who netted her first collegiate goal in the loss, marking a milestone moment for the freshman.
Defensively, Alyssa Reeber made 15 saves in goal while facing consistent pressure, helping to keep the Monarchs competitive throughout the afternoon.
King's will look to regroup as they continue their season in their next outing at Centenary on Wednesday March 25 at 4:00 p.m..
