Baseball Drops Doubleheader at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, PA (March 21, 2026)— The King's College baseball team dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader at DeSales. The Monarchs fell 14-8 in the opener before losing the second game 11-1, dropping their record to 3-9 on the season.

Game 1 – L, 14-8

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first inning, capitalizing on an error and a hit batter before bringing home a run on an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. DeSales then broke the game open in the second inning, stringing together five hits and taking advantage of another King's miscue to plate six runs and extend the advantage to 7-0.

King's answered in the third inning, as Troy Neff and Jordan Andino each recorded singles before Owen Kosar delivered a two-run double to right field, driving Neff and Andino while cutting the deficit to 7-2.

DeSales responded again in the fourth inning, using four hits, two walks, and a hit batter to score six more runs and push the lead to 13-2.

The Monarchs continued to battle, putting together a five-run sixth inning to climb back into the contest. Nathan Gilson sparked the rally with a double, and after a pair of runs scored on a wild pitch and a fielder's choice, Neff delivered the biggest swing of the day with a three-run home run to right field to cut the deficit to 13-7.

After DeSales added a run in the bottom half of the sixth, King's tacked on one more in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Sean Noone, but the comeback fell short as the Bulldogs secured the 14-8 victory in the first game of the doubleheader.

Neff led the Monarch offense with a four-hit performance, highlighted by a home run and three RBIs, while Kosar added two hits and two RBIs. Gilson contributed a double, and King's totaled 11 hits in the contest.

On the mound, Aydan Davis provided the most effective outing for the Monarchs, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out one. Matt Masala added an inning in relief, while King's used a total of five pitchers in the contest.

Game 2 – L, 11-1

DeSales extended the lead in the fourth inning, stringing together three hits to score a pair of runs and make it 5-0 midway through four.

King's broke through in the sixth inning for its lone run of the game. Owen Kosar reached with a walk and moved into scoring position before coming home on an RBI groundout from Nathan Gilson to cut the deficit to 5-1.

The Bulldogs answered in the bottom half of the sixth with a run on an RBI single, and broke the game open in the seventh inning, using three hits and three walks to plate five runs and extend the lead to 11-1, bringing the game to an early end in the seventh.
