WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 7, 2026) — A record-breaking performance from Ryan Lynch powered the King's College men's lacrosse team to a dominant 17-2 victory over Tompkins Cortland Community College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
Lynch etched his name into the program record book with seven goals, setting a new King's single-game record while adding two assists for a game-high nine points.
The Monarchs (2-2) seized control early, erupting for seven goals in the opening quarter. Logan Gallagher opened the scoring with back-to-back goals before Lynch found the net off an assist from EJ Schreiner to extend the early advantage. Connor Walsh added a man-up goal, while Schreiner and Miles Wilson also scored during the opening run to give King's a commanding 7-0 lead after the first.
King's continued to roll in the second quarter behind Lynch, who scored five times in the frame. The senior attacker connected on four consecutive goals during a stretch midway through the quarter, three of which were assisted by Schreiner, as the Monarchs built a 12-1 lead heading into halftime.
Schreiner and Wilson added goals in the third quarter to extend the margin before Lynch capped his historic day with his seventh goal early in the fourth. Brenden Lynch and Wilson also scored in the final period as King's closed out the 17-2 win.
Schreiner had a standout day facilitating the offense with six assists, which is tied for most in a single game in program history, along with two goals, finishing with eight points. Wilson contributed three goals and two assists, while Gallagher and Walsh each added two goals. Brenden Lynch also tallied a goal and an assist.
Defensively, King's controlled possession throughout the contest, holding advantages in shots (47-23), ground balls (40-20), and faceoffs (15-8). Ryan Rickards earned the win in goal with seven saves in 36 minutes of action, while Owen Rosenburg added three saves in relief.
The Monarchs will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup when they head to Wilkes University on Wednesday March 11 at 7:00 p.m..
