WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 16, 2026) — The King's College women's soccer team suffered a 4-2 setback to Lycoming College at McCarthy Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Monarchs fall to 2-4 overall while the Warriors improve to 2-3 on the season.
Lycoming controlled the majority of the contest, outshooting King's, 21-12, while putting 11 shots on goal. King's recorded five shots on target.
The Warriors scored the first goal of the game at 12:43 off a corner kick. The Monarchs responded quickly with a shot by
Maya Parker at 12:45 to try even the score, but Parker's shot went over the crossbar.
The opening shot on goal for King's came from
Isabella Pacia at 14:32 and was saved by the Lycoming goalkeeper.
Courtney Monard was tested for her first save of the game at 23:10.
Early in the 42nd minute, the Warriors were awarded a free kick from 18 yards out. The kick was taken by Lycoming and quickly turned into a goal to make the game 2-0.In the 44th minute, the Warriors were awarded another free kick, but Monard managed to make a low, centered save before halftime.
Entering the second half, Lycoming scored another goal directly off a corner kick at 49:13 to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage. King's quickly responded, as Parker scored the first goal for the Monarchs at the 50th minute, beating several defenders in the center of the box.Following Parker's goal, Monard denied two scoring chances with back-to-back stops between the 52nd and 53rd minute.
At 54:41, Pacia scored the second goal for the Monarchs off an assist from first-year
Grace Stetz to make the game 3-2. Pacia's goal was her the third of the season and marked her third straight game with a goal, while Stetz posted her first career assist.
King's continued to create chances, as
Madison Jellema tried to tie the match with a shot at 64:43, but the attempt was saved. Seconds later, Monard stopped a close one-on-one attempt with a low save in the center of the net. Jellema continued to create chances, but another attempt went wide right at 68:29.
At 75:46,
Mackenzie Huffer made an attempt to even the scoring, but her shot went high. Nearly two minutes later, the Warriors scored their fourth and final goal of the game to make the score 4-2.
Lycoming attempted to score a fifth goal at 80:36, but Monard stopped the shot. At 89:12,
Mackenzie Seeley created one last chance for the Monarchs, but her shot was denied. Monard made one final save at 89:55 to close out the game.
Monard ended the game with seven saves, while Pacia led the team with three shots, two of which were on goal.
King's returns to action Saturday afternoon as the Monarchs face Lancaster Bible College on the road at 12:00 p.m. at Donald H. Funk Field at Willis & Martha Herr Stadium.
