ASTON, PA (September 19, 2026) – The King's College field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision at Neumann University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 1-4 on the season, while the Knights improve to 4-2.

Neumann controlled much of the first half as the home team registered five shots in the first quarter of the match. First-year goalkeeper Tierney Hogan was tested early, making her first save in the opening minute. At 13:24, she made two back-to-back saves to keep the game scoreless.

The Knights opened scoring in the second quarter at 18:11 to go up 1-0. Neumann quickly added to its lead at 18:38 with another goal to make the match 2-0. The home side continued to apply pressure, firing shots toward the Monarchs' goal.

At the end of the half, Neumann had totaled 18 shots, nine of which were saved by Hogan. The first-year goalie made three saves in the first quarter and six in the second quarter.

The Monarchs recorded their first shots of the game early in the second half. Grace Coleman produced the first shot, which was saved at 32:12. Shaylee Heffron then attempted to cut the deficit at 36:37, but her shot was blocked.

In the 44th minute, Neumann continued to apply pressure, registering three consecutive shots, but Hogan's miraculous diving stops prevented the Knights from adding to their lead.

Entering the fourth quarter, King's controlled the offense. At 46:08, King's was awarded a penalty corner. After Melanie Tlatenchi took the corner, first-year Amelia Mason fired the ball into the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1. The goal was also Mason's first collegiate goal.

King's continued to apply pressure to tie the game up, as Megan Harry posted a shot at 49:50, but her attempt went wide. Mason had another scoring opportunity at 54:37, but her shot also went wide.

The Monarchs were unable to record another shot as the final whistle sounded, with Neumann securing a 2-1 victory. Hogan finished the day with a total of 12 saves.

King's field hockey returns to action on Wednesday, September 23, as they face off against Susquehanna University at McCarthy Stadium in Wilkes-Barre, PA at 7:00 p.m.
