WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 23, 2026) - The King's College women's volleyball team opened its home MAC Freedom slate on Wednesday evening, falling to Stevens Institute of Technology in three sets inside McGrane Gymnasium. The Ducks took the match by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-9 as the Monarchs moved to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Bella Boylan led the King's attack with eight kills while adding a team-high 11 digs and three service aces. Weronika Malinowski followed with six kills and nine digs, while Ariela Towsey handed out a team-best 13 assists to go along with six digs. Riley McArdle added four assists and four digs for the Monarchs.
King's came out strong in the opening set, with consecutive Boylan kills helping the Monarchs jump ahead 2-0 before a Hannah Swinsburg kill extended the advantage to 4-1. The teams continued to trade points, and King's held an 8-6 lead following a Boylan service ace and Malinowski kill. Stevens responded with a 10-2 run to take control at 16-10 and maintained its advantage down the stretch to claim the opener, 25-16.
Stevens opened a 4-1 advantage in the second before King's battled back to even the set at 4-4. The Ducks rebuilt their lead, but the Monarchs remained within striking distance as kills from Malinowski and Saoirse Bilodeau helped keep the deficit at four, 16-12. King's later pulled within three at 19-16 before Stevens closed the frame on a 6-1 run to take a 25-17 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Ducks carried their momentum into the third, using an early run to build a 10-3 advantage. King's attempted to work its way back behind kills from Malinowski and Swinsburg and a Towsey service ace, but Stevens pulled away to secure the set, 25-9, and complete the sweep.
The Monarchs return to action this Friday, September 25 as they host Keyston College for Senior Night at 7 p.m., come out and support the seniors!
