Hogan Records 100th Career Save as Monarchs Fall to Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, PA (September 30, 2026) — The King's College field hockey team suffered a 3-0 setback to Lancaster Bible College on the road Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 1-8 on the season while the Chargers improve to 2-6.

Lancaster Bible outshot the Monarchs 11-10, while the Chargers recorded seven saves compared to five for King's. The Monarchs held a 6-5 advantage in penalty corners. First-year goalkeeper Tierney Hogan additionally recorded her 100th career save in just nine collegiate games.

The Monarchs kicked off the first quarter with a shot from senior captain Shaylee Heffron off a penalty corner taken by first-year Julia Behnke. Heffron's shot was blocked by a Charger defender. The Chargers recorded their first shot of the game at 7:36, but Hogan was there to make the stop. At 10:50, the Chargers scored the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead.

First-year Gwen Erb opened the second quarter with a shot that was saved by the Lancaster Bible goalkeeper. Erb continued the attack with a second attempt near the 21st minute, but the shot went wide. At 23:53, the Chargers had the chance to score again, but Hogan made another save. The home team continued to apply pressure, scoring its second goal at 24:49.

Lancaster Bible resumed the attack, recording multiple shots near the end of the half. Heffron managed to prevent another goal from reaching the net with a defensive save. Heffron now has six defensive saves on the year.

The Monarchs started the third quarter by recording multiple shots. Megan Harry, Amelia Mason and Heffron each recorded a shot, but all three were denied by the Lancaster Bible defense. At 34:34, Hogan made another save on a Charger shot, recording the 100th save of her career.

In the 38th minute, the Monarchs continued to push for a goal. Erb recorded another shot that was saved, while Ella Hughes added her first shot of the game, which was also stopped by the Lancaster Bible goalkeeper. The Monarchs were unable to generate another scoring opportunity in the fourth quarter.

The Chargers scored their third and final goal in the 52nd minute. The final whistle blew and the game ended 3-0. Hogan ended the night with a total of four saves, while Heffron and Erb led the team in shots with three each.

The Monarchs return to action on Saturday, October 3, at McCarthy Stadium as they take on Stevens in their first conference game of the season. The game is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. and will serve as Senior Night.
