KING'S SOFTBALL WINS FIRST TWO GAMES IN FLORIDA
COCOA BEACH, FLA -- The King's College softball team opened the 2008 season with a pair of victories on its spring break trip to Cocoa Beach, Fla.
In the first game, King's defeated Point Park College 5-1, while downing Carlow College 8-1 in the second contest.
In the win over Point Park,
Abbey Knoblauch was 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored 1 run. Meghan Galvin went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Annie Drimones finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and score one run.
Gretchen Tholen was 1-for-3 while
Becky Loring delivered an RBI.
Leanne Harvey scored one run and stole two bases while
Lauren DeCreny and
Kasey Corbett scored one run each.
Kelsey Shreaves was 1-for-2 at the plate while picking up the pitching victory. Shreaves tossed seven innings, allowing five hits, one earned run with five strikeouts and allowed just one walk.
Against Carlow, Galvin went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored. Knoblauch was 2-for-3 with a run while Drimones went 1-for-2 with two runs and a stolen base. Tholen was 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI.
Christie Parfitt was 1-for-2 with one RBI and scored a run. Harvey 1-for-1 with a double and RBI while Jacquie O'Brien was 1-for-2 while driving in one run. Loring also chipped in with an RBI.
Julie Bidwell was also 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Lindsay Hoerner was the winning pitcher, allowing eight hits and one earned run while striking out eight batters with one walk in seven innings of work.
