KING'S BASEBALL TEAM EDGES MORAVIAN, 3-1
BETHLEHEM -- The King's College baseball team improved to 9-9 on the year as the Monarch posted a 3-1 victory over host Moravian College Wednesday in Bethlehem.
King's scored first in the second inning when
Pat McGlynn reached base o an error ad later scored from third on an infield grounder by
Gracjan Kraszewski. The Monarchs added another run in the third when
Matt Colgan singled and scored on an RBI double by
Matt Feci.
After Moravian scored in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 2-1, the Monarchs would add an insurance run in the sixth.
Jon Venarchick would single, steal second, and moved to third on an error.
Matt Unger would then bring home Venarchick with an RBI double down the left field line.
Colgan and Unger lead King's with two hits each.
Ryan Derry was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits and one earned run with six strikeouts.
Eric Matula pitched one scoreless inning before
Joe Jenkins tossed the final three innings of hitless relief to earn the save.
King's is next slated to host Wilkes Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields before the teams turn around on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at Artillery Park
