MAHWAH, NJ -- Senior forward
Debbie Wychock scored three goals with an assist to power the visiting King's College field hockey team to a season-opening 5-2 victory over Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ.
After Ramapo took a 1-0 lead at 6:18 of the first half, Wychock responded when she struck net off a
Danielle Terracciano assist at the 10:24 mark to tie the score at 1-1. Wychock would give King's a 2-0 lead when she scored unassisted just 0:55 later. Ramapo however would score at 20:34 to tie the game at 2-2 at the half.
In the second stanza, King's freshman
Jenera Quinones scored off a Wychock assist to propel the Lady Monarchs to a 3-2 lead. Wychock would score her third goal at 54:23 before freshman Shawna Welp struck net at 61:47 to push the final score to 5-2.
King's outshot Ramapo 14-4 on the day.
Michelle Ray started in goal for the Lady Monarchs, while
Melanie Ostrowski played the second half and made three stops.
King's will make its home debut Monday at 1:00 p.m. when the Lady Monarchs host Ramapo College on the new turn surface at Betzler Fields.
