KING'S TENNIS REGISTERS IMPORTANT 5-4 CONFERENCE WIN OVER EASTERN
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's tennis team secured an important 5-4 Freedom Conference victory over visiting eastern University Thursday at Kirby Park.
With the win, King's improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Eastern, meanwhile, slipped to 3-4 and 0-2 in league play.
King's took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition, then split three of the six singles bouts to clinch the victory.
Christy Rossowski and
Lauren Breen, along with
Rachel Hoffnagle and
Maria Cometa posted doubles wins to give the Lady Monarchs the early lead after doubles. In singles,
Jillian Tallarico (8-1),
Courtnay Wilson (4-4), and
Lauren Breen (7-0) were each victorious to enable King's to hold on for the victory.
The Lady Monarchs return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. match against Susquehanna University at Kirby Park.
