King's Tennis Goes 1-3 in Doubles on Opening Day of MAC Championships

KING'S TENNIS OPENS UP MAC PLAY WITH DOUBLES AS SQUAD GOES 1-3
 
KINGSTON -- The King's College women's tennis team opened up the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships Friday night at the Kingston Indoor Tennis Center. The three King's teams combined for a 1-3 mark and were eliminated from the doubles competition.

In the opening round of the number-one flight, King's team of Jillian Tallarico and Diana Darby fell 8-4 to Cristine Petrilla and Kate Steiner of DeSales

In the number-two flight, the Lady Monarch entry of Christy Rossowski and Lauren Breen won their first-round matchup with an 8-0 triumph over
Heather Gehman and Carrie Schwartz  of FDU-Florham.  In their second round pairing, Breen and Rossowski held a 7-6 lead and failed to convert on five match points before being eliminated by a 9-7 count to Kristen Chen and Annie Gotchel of Messiah. 

In the number-three doubles flight, King's team of Maria Cometa and Courtnay Wilson were eliminated 8-3 by the Manhattanville entry of Julia Romano and Boramy Siek.

Play will resume Saturday at 1:30 at the Kingston Indoor Center.
