King's Softball Falls to Moravian, Virginia Wesleyan on Final Day of Salisbury Tourney

KING'S SOFTBALL SQUAD FALLS TO MORAVIAN, VIRGINIA WESLEYAN ON FINAL DAY OF SALISBURY TOURNEY
 
SALISBURY, MD -- The King's College softball team lost both games on the final day of the Seagull Invitational Tournament Sunday at Salisbury University, Salisbury, Md.

The Lady Monarchs fell to 25th ranked Moravian 9-1, before dropping a 5-2 verdict to Virginia Wesleyan. King's now stands at 5-5 on the season.

In the opener, Lindsay Hoerner took the pitching loss, allowing eight earned runs on 14 hits.  King's managed just one hit in the game, a double by Meghan Galvin, while Abbey Knoblauch scored the lone run for the Lady Monarchs.
 
In game-two, freshman hurler Shawna Walp yielded two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Julie Bidwell was 1-for-3 with a solo home run while Katie Fry went 1-for-3 with a RBI.

King's will return to action on Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs open Freedom Conference play with a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader against Eastern University at Robert L. Betzler Fields.
