KING'S SOFTBALL MAKING HOME DEBUT AGAINST EASTERN, VIEW GAME ON LIVE STATS
 
WILKES-BARRE – The King's College softball team host Eastern University on Wednesday in the Freedom Conference home opener for the 2009 season in a 3:00 pm double-header at Betzler Fields.

The Lady Monarchs enter into the game with a 5-5 overall record after dropping a 5-2 decision to Virginia-Wesleyan. Head coach Lisa Gigliello is two wins away from reaching the 400 win-plateau as her career record is currently 398-176-2.  
 
Eastern enters today's game with a 7-5 overall record and a 1-1 conference record after splitting with DeSales.
 
Leading the way for King's on offense is outfielder/pitcher Rachel Zinni with a .526 (10-19) average with two doubles, two RBI and seven runs scored while holding a 1-0 record with a 1.75 ERA with five K's in 12 innings. Junior infielder Abbey Knoblauch follows with a .452 (14-31) average with three doubles and seven RBI. Senior first-baseman/pitcher Becky Loring bats .450 (9-20) with two doubles, one home run and eight RBI while leading the way in the circle with a 2-0 record holding a 1.75 ERA with three K's in 12 innings. Junior catcher Christie Parfitt stands at .429 (6-14) with one double and three RBI. Junior second-baseman Meaghan Galvin enters with a .423 average (11-26) with two doubles, two HR and eight RBI.
 
Leading the way for the Eagles is Kate Phelan with a .433 (13-30) average with one double and three RBI. Karen Hertzog follows with a .400 (16-40) average with three doubles, one triple and six RBI. Nicole Hoskins bats .340(32-94) with five doubles, one home run and 23 RBI and leads the team in the circle with a 4-2 record with a 2.22 ERA with six K's in 26 innings.
