SOFTBALL OPENS 2009 SEASON WITH SWEEP OF SAINT VINCENT
TITUSVILLE, FLA – The King's College Softball team opened the 2009 season with a sweep of St. Vincent's on its spring break trip to Titusville, Fla.
The Lady Monarch's shutout the Bearcats in game one by the score of 8-0, while only allowing one run in game two with the final being 9-1. Both games were halted after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.
In the opener, junior hurler
Lindsey Hoerner tossed a complete- game, two-hit shutout with three strikeouts.
Becky Loring led the Lady Monarchs offensively by going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Gretchen Tholen was 2-for-3 with with a double, two runs and a RBI.
Rachel Zinni was 2-for-2 with two runs.
In the second game, Loring tossed another complete-game only giving up four hits while also going 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI. Tholen was 3-for-3 with one run and three RBI.
Meaghan Galvin was 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Knoblauch was 2-for-4 with two runs.
