KING'S SOFTBALL TEAM DEFEATS DAKOTA WESLEYAN, URSULINE TO IMPROVE TO 5-1
COCOA BEACH, FLA -- The King's College softball team wrapped up its Spring Break trip to Florida on Wednesday with a pair of single-game victories over Dakota Wesleyan University and Ursuline College. The two wins improved King's to 5-1 thus far this season.
In its first game of the day, the Lady Monarchs defeated Dakota Wesleyan 14-2, then posted a 7-3 triumph against Ursuline.
Against Dakota Wesleyan, Lindsey Hoerner pitched a complete-game five-hitter, allowing one earned run with four strikeouts while walking only one batter. Offensively, Meaghan Galvin went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs, and three RBI. Abbey Knoblauch was also 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Rachel Zinni finished 2-for-3 with two runs, a double, and two RBI while Becky Loring followed by going 2-for-3 with one run, a double, and two RBI. Gretchen Tholen chipped in with a two-run home run.
Against Ursuline, Loring tossed a complete-game four-hitter, yielding two earned runs, with one strikeout and one walk. Zinni paced the offense by going 4-for-4 with a double and RBI. Knoblauch went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Lauren DeCreny was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI while Katie Fry chipped in with one hit, two runs, and a RBI.
King's will be idle until March 13-14 when the Lady Monarchs compete in the prestigious Salisbury University Invitational Tournament in Salisbury, Md.
