KING'S FIELD HOCKEY RALLIES PAST RAMAPO TO WIN SEASON OPENER

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College field hockey team overcame a 1-0 deficit in the opening two minutes of play to rally past visiting Ramapo College with a 2-1 victory Tuesday at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.

Ramapo stunned the Lady Monarchs with a goal just 1:18 into the contest when Rebecca Penhaker drilled in a rebounded shot off the pads of Lady Monarch goalie Erin McGinley.  King's, however, would remain calm and tied the score at 1-1 when Danielle Terracciano converted a rebound of her own following a penalty corner with 3:01 left in the first half.

King's would push across the game-winner with 17:09 remaining when Heather Kozimor knocked in a loose ball during a scramble in front of the Ramapo net.

King's outshot Ramapo 9-5, including a 5-1 second half advantage, and held a 8-7 lead in penalty corners.

The Lady Monarchs take to the field Saturday and Sunday at the Stevens Tech Invitational. The Lady Monarchs play Juniata Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the opening game
