KING'S PICKS UP FIRST CONFERENCE VICTORY OVER EASTERN
ST. DAVID'S, PA – The King's College women's tennis team (4-0, 1-0 Freedom Conference) edged host Eastern College (2-3, 0-1) by the score of 5-4 to pick up their first league victory of the season on Saturday.
The team won three singles matches to go along with two doubles victories.
Courtney Wilson defeated Jackie Sauder in number-two singles 7-5, 6-0. Wilson later teamed with Maria Cometa to take on the team of Sauder and Amanda Prescott to pick up the 8-5 victory.
Cometa had a tough two set number-six singles match, defeating Prescott by scores of 6-4, 6-3. Eastern was able to pick up a victory in the number-one singles match as Beckah Roland defeated Jillian Tallarico 6-2, 6-2. The Eagles also picked up a victory in the number-three singles slot as Hannah Tobin defeated Christy Rossowski 6-2, 6-3. Rossowski later teamed with Lauren Breen to pick up a number-two doubles victory over Allison Verdic and Jennifer Wright by the score of 8-5. Lauren Breen added a number-five singles victory over Jen Wright by a 6-1, 6-0 count.
The Lady Monarchs are back in action on Tuesday as they take on Albright College for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
