KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS IMPROVES TO 6-0 WITH 5-4 WIN OVER DESALES
CENTER VALLEY – The King's College women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches, then took three of six singles bouts as the Lady Monarchs remained undefeated with a 5-4 victory over host DeSales University Thursday in Center Valley.
With the win, King's improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Freedom Conference play while DeSales slipped to 2-5 and 1-1 in league matches.
King's took a 2-1 lead after doubles as Christy Rossowski and Rachel Hoffnagel posted an 8-5 win at the number-two flight while Courtnay Wilson and Maria Cometa registered an 8-6 triumph in the third flight.
In singles, the Lady Monarchs playing without one of its top performers as Lauren Breen, who is a combined 8-0 in singles and doubles, was unable to make the trip. For King's, Rossowski was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at number-three singles while Hoffnagel added a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the number-four flight. King's sophomore Diana Darby stepped into the lineup and earned a critical 6-3, 6-4 win at number-six singles to clinch the victory for the Lady Monarchs.
King's returns to action Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when the Lady Monarchs host Susquehanna University at Kirby Park.
