The Monarchs enter the game with a 2-4 overall record after suffering a tough 76-75 overtime loss against Manhattanville on Saturday. King's has cooled off offensively since starting the year 2-0, capturing the Susquehanna University Tip-Off Tournament Championship. The Monarchs are riding a four-game losing streak, averaging just 57.0 points in those four contests. Senior forward Kevin Conroy (Chatham, NJ, Chatam) leads the offense averaging 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds, shooting 43.7 percent (31-71) from the floor. The Nittany Lions have dropped games at Wilkes University (74-45), Lycoming College (90-46), Marywood University (72-56), and Baptist Bible College (72-56). Penn State Hazleton stands as one of the youngest teams the Monarchs will play all season, as their roster is comprised of all underclassmen (11 freshman and three sophomores).
The game will mark the second meeting between the two schools, as King's posted a 75-50 win in Hazleton last season.
Following the doubleheader, the King's women's squad continues their home non-conference stretch of games Thursday, hosting Lycoming College at 7:00 p.m. The Monarch men will be back in action Friday and Saturday when they host the PNC/Ramada Inn Classic Tournament in Scandlon Gymnasium. King's meets Potsdam State in the opening round at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
