KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS OPENING PAIR OF 2010
MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- The King's College softball team opened its 2010 campaign by splitting its first two games at the 2010 campaign at the Snowbird Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC.
In its first game, King's routed Penn State Harrisburg 30-3 in five innings. In its second contest, the Lady Monarchs fell to Gettysburg College 7-3.
In its opener, Meaghan Galvin went 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBI while Gretchen Tholen was 4-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, a double and triple. Lauren DeCreny aided the cause by going 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Lindsey Hoerner was 1-for-2 with two runs, three RBI, a doubles, and drew two walks. Hoerner also pitched three innings, allowing one earned run with three strikeouts. Annie Erndle tossed the final two innings, allowing one earned run with one strikeout.
Against Gettysburg. Katie Fry was 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI. Galvin finished 1-doe-2 with a double, RBI, and drew two walks. DeCreny was 1-for-3 with a run. Hoerner took the pitching loss, allowing all seven runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts. King's continues play Monday at 9:00 a.m. against SUNY-IT before meeting Bridgewater College at 10:30 a.m.
