King's Softball Splits on Day Two of Spring Trip

KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS ON DAY-TWO OF SPRING TRIP

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The King's College softball team split for the second straight day on their spring trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.  In the opener, King's defeated SUNY-IT 10-7 before falling 9-0 to Bridgewater (Va.) College in the nightcap.The Monarchs now stand at 2-2 on the year.

In game-one versus SUNY-IT, Gretchen Tholen was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Kaitlin Sigfried was 1-for-3 with two runs and a solo home run. Katie Fry finished 1-for-2 with a double and a RBI. Annilise LaRosa went 1-for-2 with two RBI. In the circle, Annie Erndl picked up the win, going four innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Lindsey Hoener finished up, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.


In game-two, senior Lindsay Lam tossed a six-inning no-hitter for Bridgewater. Junior designated player Emily Morris was 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and a triple. Amber Marstin hit a fifth-inning homerun to left center field ended the contest due to the eight run rule.
 
In the circle, Lam struck out nine and walking two in her six innings of work. Bridgewater plated its nine runs on nine hits and had no fielding miscues on the day. For KIng's, Hoerner took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts in six innings of work.

King's will return to action Tuesday with a 9:00 a.m. matchup agsinst Averett University, followed by a 10:30 contest with Gordon College.
