LADY MONARCH HOSTING DESALES UNIVERSITY IN CONFERENCE HOME OPENER, VIEW LIVESTATS
WILKES-BARRE - - The King's College softball team will host DeSales University in the Lady Monarchs' conference home opener doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. The games are a rematch of the 2009 Freedom Conference championship game won by King's. DeSales was the 2008 Freedom Conference champion.

King's enters the game with a 6-8 overall record while holding a 1-1 Freedom Conference mark entering today's home and conference opening game after splitting a doubleheader with Eastern University on Satruday.
Senior pitcher Lindsey Horner leads the team with a .417 average (15-36) with three doubles, three HR and 10 RBI, while also being named the Freedom Conference "Pitcher of the Week on Monday recording a 2.94 ERA with 49 K's in 48 innings. Sophomore outfielder Kaitlin Siegfried enters with a .410 (16-39) average with four doubles, one HR and 11 RBI. Junior third-baseman Gretchen Tholen bats .385 (15-39) with three doubles, two triples and nine RBI.
Senior shortstop Meaghan Galvin follows with a .327 (16-49) average with two doubles and 11 RBI. Freshman pitcher Annie Erndl has a .320 (8-25) average with two doubles, one HR and five RBI, while also recording 30 K's in 37 innings for the Lady Monarchs in the circle. Senior catcher Christie Parfitt adds a .316 (12-38) average with three triples and eight RBI. Senior first-baseman Katie Fry has a .293 average with two doubles and eight RBI.
The DeSales University softball team enters today's game with a 10-8 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the Freedom Conference after dropping a doubleheader to Kean University on Wednesday. Christine Petrilla tops the squad with a .379 (22-58) average with nine doubles, one HR and five RBI. Jen Lococo follows with a .339 (20-59) average with four doubles, five HR and 16 RBI, while having a 4-3 record in the circle recording 26 strikeouts in 38.1 innings.
Kerri Andrews has a .339 (21-62) average with three doubles, one HR and six RBI. Kristin Schultz bats .327 (18-55) with two doubles and five RBI. Kate Steiner chips in with a .296 (16-54) average with two doubles, one HR and nine RBI. Katie Morrissey is 5-4 in the circle with 66 strikeouts in 62.2 innings.
The Lady Monarchs will continue this home stretch as they take on Misericordia University in conference action on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
