KING'S SOFTBALL TRAVELING TO WILKES SATURDAY FOR IMPORTANT CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER
 
WILKES-BARRE --  When the King's College softball team travels cross-town to meet city rival Wilkes University, both teams will be looking at matchup as critical for two different reasons. 
 
King's, which enters the matchup with a 12-10 overall record and a 6-2 Freedom Conference mark is looking to improve its position in the Freedom Conference as the Lady Monarchs are locked in a three-way tie for first-place with two weeks remaining in the regular season.  Wilkes, meanwhile, is 7-17 overall and 2-6 in league games and will look at the series as an opportunity to work its way back into contention.

 King's is led by senior All-Freedom shortstop Meaghan Galvin who is batting .443 (35-79) with four doubles and 23 runs scored. Senior pitcher/designated player Lindsey Hoerner follows at .371 (23-62) with three home runs, six doubles, and 17 RBI. Freshman Kaitlin Siegfried stands at .338 (23-68) with four doubles, two home runs, and 19 RBI while scoring a team-high 23 runs.  Freshman Annie Erndl bats .300 (12-40) with two home runs and seven RBI. Junior third-baseman Gretchen Tholen bats .297 (19-64) with three doubles, two triples, and 11 RBI.
 
In the circle, Hoerner owns a 9-5 record with a 3.37 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 87 innings. Erndl is 3-5 with 45 strikeouts in 53 innings.

 Wilkes is paced by Gina Stefanelli who is hitting .449 (31-69) with nine doubles and 12 RBI.  The pitchers are led by Lindsey Behrenshausen who is 5-7 with a 4.57 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 75 innings.
