KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH CENTENARY
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ -- The King's College softball team posted a 10-2 victory over host Centenary College in a doubleheader Wednesday in Hackettstown, NJ. Centenary captured the nightcap 6-2 to secure a split.
With the split, King's stands at 18-14 on the year while Centenary is 24-12.
In the opener, Lindsey Hoerner was the winning pitcher, scattering six hits while striking out seven batters.
Gretchen Tholen led the offense by going 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI, including a triple. Hoerner aided her own cause by going 3-for-5 with a run and RBI, including a double and triple. Meaghan Galvin finished 2-for-4 with two runs while Katie Fry went 2-for-4 with a RBI.
In the second game the Lady Monarchs could muster only six hits, paced by Tholen who was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. Galvin. Fry, Samantha Hornberger, and Kayla Rutkoski added one hit each. Annie Erndl took the loss, surrendering five earned runs on 12 hits.
King's returns to action Saturday when the Lady Monarchs travel to Purchase, NY to face Manhattanville College in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
