WILKES-BARRE -- One of the great small college football rivalries will resume on Saturday when the King's College hosts cross-town rival Wilkes University in the 16th annual Mayor's Cup Game at McCarthy Stadium.   
                               
The game will be televised live in Northeastern Pennsylvania by WQMY My Network TV with the pre-game show beginning at 1:00 p.m. and kickoff slated for 1:07 p.m.   

Ticket Prices:  $4 for adults and $2 for students. Pets are not permitted in the Betzler Athletic Complex.

ABOUT THE GAME:   
Today's game marks the 16th Mayor's Cup Game between cross-town rivals King's College and Wilkes University. The colleges, located just four blocks from one another along Franklin and River Streets, began playing for the Mayor's Cup in 1996. The start of the Mayor's Cup Game, Wilkes has won 11 of the 15 contests.

ABOUT THE SERIES:   
This is the 25th all-time meeting between the programs with Wilkes holding a 18-6 advantage. Wilkes has won seven of the last eight meetings with King's last victory coming in a 33-16 win in 2009 at McCarthy Stadium. Wilkes won last season's game 21-17 at Schmidt Stadium.   

THE COACHES:      
Monarch mentor Jeff Knarr is in his second season of rebuilding the program at King's and owns a 2-14 career record. Wilkes mentor Frank Sheptock is in his 16th year with the Colonels and sports a 96-69 career record.         

LAST WEEK:   
A week ago King's lost its fourth straight game in a 54-13 defeat at the hands of three-time defending MAC champion Delaware Valley Saturday in Doylestown. Wilkes, meanwhile, comes off a bye week  but dropped a 14-6 verdict to Delaware Valley in its last contest the previous week.      

KING'S ON OFFENSE:    MULTIPLE-I                     
The Monarchs offense has struggled in recent weeks and is averaging  242.2 yards of total offense per-game. The Monarchs have averaged 165.2 passing yards and 80.0 rushing yards. Senior quarterback Joe Kirchon has completed 50.6 (80-158) percent of his passes for 872 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions. However, freshman quarterback Bryant Klein is expected to make his first career start. Klein has played in just one game this season, seeing limited action in King's win over Stevenson. Klein did not attempt a pass in the game and had one carry for minus-three yards. Sophomore tailback Eric Ofcharsky leads the team with 186 rushing yards on 57 carries and two touchdowns while adding eight catches out of the backfield for 47 yards. Freshman tailback Kyle McGrath has 151 yards on 39 attempts and has caught four passes for 14 yards. Senior fullback Jordan Haddock has rushed for 79 yards on 14 carries while catching 16 passes for 80 yards. Topping the receivers is  senior Jay Torres with 27 catches for 417 yards and four touchdowns. Senior tight end Glen Ford adds 15 receptions for 143 yards and one score while sophomore split ends Chris Greene has contributed 14 receptions for 125 yards while sophomore split end Tommy Armellino chips in with eight catches.

WILKES ON OFFENSE:    MULTIPLE   
The Wilkes offense enters the game averaging 395.7 total yards per-game. The are rushing for 225.0 yards each contest while passing for 170.7 yards per-game. Directing the offense is sophomore quarterback Alex George who has completed 58.0 (65-112) percent of his passes for 831 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. George has also run for 309 yards on 71 attempts with four scores. Junior quarterback Tyler Bernsten has also figured into the Colonel attack, completing 10-of-30 passes for 193 yards while rushing for 156 yards on 27 attempts. The running attack has been paced by senior tailback Zach Tivald who has gained 577 yards on 95 carries with five touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 122 yards.  Sophomore Auxence Wogou chips in with 259 yards on 48 carries with one touchdown while making nine catches out of the backfield for 100 yards. The Colonel receivers are headed by Todd Eagles with 29 catches for 432 yards while Tim Bousson chips in with eight receptions for 127 yards and one score.      

KING'S ON DEFENSE:    MULTIPLE 3-4   
King's defense has yielded an average of 420.0 total yards per-game, including 147.3 rushing yards and 272.7 passing yards each contest.  Junior inside linebackers Ryan Kelly and Ryan Cordingly top the squad with 42 tackles each. Cordingly adds two tackles for loss and a sack while Kelly also has one sack. Senior safety Jim McHugh adds 33 tackles with an interception and five pass breaks. Junior cornerback Evan Crisman contributes 25 tackles while sophomore nose-guard Jon Koslop and senior cornerback Mike Schifalacqua have 20 tackles each. Junior linebacker Matt Henry has made 15 tackles and junior safety Don Binckes total 18 tackles apiece. Junior linebacker Jake Ksiaziewicz has posted 17 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss while junior defensive end Jake Lehnowsky has registered 17 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. Sophomore safety Chris Shuster has 13 tackles while junior cornerback Andrew Yablonsky has made 14 stops with an interception. 
       
WILKES ON DEFENSE:    MULTIPLE   
Wilkes defense enters the game allowing 468.8 yards of total offense per-game, including 165.7 rushing yards and 303.2 passing yards per-contest. The unit is paced by pre-season all-American sophomore linebacker Tate Moore-Jacobs who has posted 70 tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss and, 1.5 sacks, and three interceptions.  Sophomore defensive end Rob Houseknecht follows with 42 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks. Freshman defensive back Dylan Mohring adds 31 tackles while senior defensive back Joe Crismer contributes with 30 stops. Freshman defensive back Justin Pellowski has tallied 29 tackles and broken up nine passes while freshman defensive back Jake Sarson has made 23 tackles with 3.0 sacks and an interception. Senior linebacker Seth Fetteroff has garnered 23 tackles while senior defensive end James Moore has registered 20 tackles with 6.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks.  Senior Harry Reese has made 16 tackles while  sophomore linebacker D.J. Shuttleworth and  senior defensive tackle Joe Brito have 15 tackles apiece.

POST-GAME CEREMONY:
Both teams will line up at their respective 40-yard lines. One member of each squad will be honored with a Team Most Valuable Player plaque. Following the presentations of those awards, the winning squad will be presented with the Mayor's Cup by Wilkes-Barre Mayor Thomas Leighton. Fans are asked to remain off the field during this time.
