KING'S SOFTBALL OPENS 3-0 IN MYRTLE BEACH
MYRTLE BEACH, SC – After seeing its season opening doubleheader rained out on Saturday, the King's College softball team played an adjusted schedule on Monday, competing in three games at the Snowbird Tournament in Myrtle Beach.
King's opened Monday morning with a 7-4 victory over Dakota State University, then followed up with a 17-0 triumph against Penn State Harrisburg. In their final game of the day, the Lady Monarchs registered an 11-0 win over Bluefield College of Virginia.
Against Dakota Wesleyan, Gretchen Tholen went 3-for-3 with a double,, one run, and a RBI. Kaitlin Siegfried was also 3-for-4 with two runs and a double. Jenn Harnischfeger was 2-for-4 with one run and a stolen base. Annie Erndl finished 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. She was also the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
In the win over Penn State Harrisburg, Harnischfeger was 3-for-4 with a double, two steals, and three RBI. Siegfried went 2-for-4 with three runs, a double and RBI. Amanda Cardone was 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBI, two runs, and two steals. Erndl was the winning pitcher, yielding four hits with nine strikeouts in five innings.
Against Bluefield, Rachel Zinni finished 3-for-3 with a double, three runs, one RBI and a stolen base. Lisa Alley went 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBI, and scored two runs. Brittany Haight was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
