KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS DOWNS FDU 6-3 TO CLINCH FREDOM CONFERENCE PLAYOFF BERTH
KINGSTON -- The King's College women's tennis team took a 2-1 lead after doubles then clinched the match by winning four-of-six singles contests as the Lady Monarchs posted a 6-3 victory over visiting FDU-Florham Saturday at the Kingston Indoor Tennis Center. In the process, the Lady Monarchs clinched a Freedom Conference playoff berth.
With the win, King's improved to 4-11 overall and 2-2 in Freedom Conference play. FDU-Florham, meanwhile, slipped to 0-5 and 0-3.
In doubles, Maria Cometa and Rachel Hoffnagle posted an 8-2 win in the second doubles flight. King's picked up a freebie at third doubles when Jen Bader and Nicole Molino won by forfeit.
In singles, Hoffnagle won a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 in the third flight while Cometa tallied a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at fourth singles. King's Jen Bader garnered a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles while Molina gained a forfeit in the sixth singles flight.
