Megan Mundy found the back of the net twice agains William Patterson.

King’s Field Hockey Downs William Patterson 5-2

Owings Mills, Md.-- The King's College field hockey team downed William Patterson 5-2 in the opener of the Black-Eyed Susan tournament Saturday afternoon at Stevenson University.

Megan Mundy scored her first career goal on a penalty corner at 15:29. Mundy found the back of the net again in the first half on a deflection off a Jenera Quinones shot to give the Lady Monarchs a 2-0 lead.

King's built on its 2-1 halftime lead with a goal from Shawna Walp off of a rebound that hit the post at 37:04. The Pioneers answered with a goal from Jaclyn Bertos at 37:43.

Walp found the net again at 43:14 on a penalty corner. Calli Berryman tacked on an insurance goal to set the final at 52:53 on a shot from right in front of the net.

Megan Withrow picked up the win in net for King's allowing both goals and making one save.

The Lady Monarchs are back in action Sunday against Ramapo College at 2:00 pm in the second game of the Black-Eyed Susan Tournament.
