King's Men's Basketball Return to Freedom Conference Action Against DeSales

CENTER VALLEY -- The King's College men's basketball team jumps back into Freedom Conference play on Wednesday when the Monarchs travel to Center Valley to face DeSales University for an 8:00 p.m. tip.

The Monarchs ran their record to 7-6,  anad have gone 3-1 since the start of the second semester after a 82-80 win over previously beaten Lycoming on Saturday. The Bulldogs are currently 6-6 overall after winning back to back games including a 72-69 win their last time out.

King's sits at 2-0 in the Freedom Conference with wins over defending conference champion Delaware Valley and FDU-Florham. After finishing second in the Freedom last season and winning the conference the two previous seasons the Bulldogs have dropped their first two Freedom games against FDU-Florham and Wilkes.

The Monarchs have spread the scoring around with five different players a top the scoring column. Kyle Hammonds is King's leading scorer averaging 12.2 points per game and scored 18 against Lycoming. He also has pulled down 3.1 boards per contest. Matt Fiorino has hit 30-of-72 3-point shots and is averaging 10.1 points. Kyle Stackhouse has added 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest.

DeSales' offense is paced by Brett Moyer with 15.4 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds. Moyer has led the Bulldogs in scoring nine times in 12 contests and topped 20 points three times. Bob Zanneo has chipped in 10.4 points and 3.1 boards. Freedom Conference "Player of the Week" Kyle Hash is averaging 9.4 points and 5.5 rebounds.

King's has averaged 75.5 points per game while the Bulldogs are putting 66.9 points on the board. The Monarchs have won the turnover battle on the season forcing 218 turnovers while committing just 183. DeSales has out rebounded their opponents 402-361 on the season.

The Monarchs will then return to action on Saturday with another important Freedom Conference matchup as King's hosts Eastern University at 3:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
