Monarch Basketball Squad Hits the Road to Take on Eastern
St. Davids, PA-- The King's College men's basketball team looks keep its playoff hopes alive when they travel to conference leading Eastern for a Freedom Conference tilt at 8:00 p.m.
The Monarchs slipped to 8-11 overall and 3-5 in the Freedom Conference after they dropped a 58-44 decision to DeSales Saturday. While The Eagles had a four-game winning streak snapped by rival Cabrini 82-76 to fall to 13-6 overall and are 6-2 in the Freedom Conference after a 71-58 win over Manhattanville.

In the first meeting between these two teams King's defended their home court knocking off Eastern 74-66 on Jan. 14.
Keyton Winder posted 20 points and
Kyle Stackhouse added a double double with 15 points and 12 boards to lead the Monarchs. Alex Nelson paced Eastern with 24 points.
Offensively the Monarchs are near the top of the conference sitting in the third position with 71.2 points, but they have allowed opponents 71.6 points which ranks sixth in the Freedom. Eastern has the second best scoring offense at 75.5 points per game and is allowing 70.3 points per contest the fifth best mark in the league.
Sophomore
Kyle Hammonds is at the top of the King's scoring list with 11.5 points per game to go with 3.3 rebounds.
Keyton Winder has added 10.2 points and 4.2 boards in his freshman campaign. Senior point guard
Kyle Stackhouse has tallied 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest. His 2.7 assist to turnover ratio is the best mark in the conference. Freshman
Tim O'Shea has turned in 8.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per outing.
The Monarchs have relied on the 3-pointer this season and have hit 6.6 per game lead by junior guard
Matt Fiorino who has made 38 treys on his way to 9.0 points per game. Freshman
Mike Foster is leading the Freedom Conference in 3-point field goal percentage with .532 and is averaging 6.5 points.
Nick Reisig averages 5.3 points, 3.3 boards and 3.0 helpers per game in his senior season. Sophomore
Donovan Womack has provided a spark off the bench averaging 4.5 points in just 12 minutes per game.
Eastern is paced by the conferences leading scorer Nelson with 18.6 points to go along with his 7.7 rebounds per game. Collin Whipple has averaged 13.9 points and 3.6 boards per contest. Michael Dontaoni has chipped in 12.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest.Martin Soaries is the fourth Eagle averaging double figures in scoring with 12.0 points, 4.3 boards and 2.7 assists per game.
King's has struggled against the Eagles since Eastern joined the Freedom in the 2008-09 season holding a 1-6 record with the Monarchs only win coming on Feb. 2, 2011 at Scandlon Gymnasium.
